Sean Dolan
Ascendgence CEO
Within one year of his high school graduation, Sean was made the Assistant General Manager for the company he’d worked for all through high school and was well on his way to a business degree.
After accidentally landing a spot on NBC reality show Fame (he was only at the audition as moral support for a friend), Sean realized he had craved something more creative and entered the show business industry as a Promotions Assistant with a Houston radio station. When the station became aware that he’d previously dabbled as a DJ, they moved him into position as the resident mobile DJ for their special events, and gave him an on-air position for a weekend show called ‘Curbside’.
Over the next several years, Sean made a name for himself as a Premiere DJ and MC in the Houston area working for the top nightclubs in the city, including being the Corporate Director of Marketing for what was arguably the most famous nightclub in the Houston area. Sean realized that with his talent for the art, his newly discovered skills as a marketer and his interest in business that originally led him to pursue a business degree he could easily open up his own DJ company. In 2007, Sean took his “hobby DJ business” Orangeman Productions to the next level.
He began to advertise the company through organic search engine optimization (SEO) and pay per click (PPC) marketing. Within a year, Sean had built a DJ company through Internet marketing that was in much higher demand than he could personally supply. He realized he would either need to expand his DJ business to include employees or accept that his business had reached its maximum capacity.
However, during this time, Sean had become obsessed with learning everything he could about online marketing and it wasn’t long before a friend asked if he could do the same thing for their business that he’d done for his own. In 2009, Sean formed Ascendgence with partner, Kevin Dolan and hasn’t looked back.
Sean’s first task with Ascendgence was to create a case study the company could use to show businesses Ascendgence’s talent by taking a business from 0-60 in a relatively short timeframe. After debating doing so with a local charity, the idea struck him for Pimp This Bum which became an internationally covered news story making Tim Edwards (now no longer homeless and two years sober) the “face of Homelessness in America.” Sean appeared on Fox News to discuss the story, while successfully promoting the website to receive coverage on CNN, CBS, Fox, the Rachael Ray show and many more.
Within a year, Ascendgence was at capacity and Sean was once again faced with the decision to expand or keep the status quo. But this time, he knew he’d found something that was worth expanding and something that brought him the personal fulfillment – helping small and medium sized business owners succeed – that his DJ business never had.
Sean spends his spare time with his wife (also a highly successful internet marketer) and children, loves to travel and actively contributes to various charities, including the American Heart Association. He continues to expand his internet marketing skills while his clients continue to benefit and keeps up to date by attending various industry conferences and by innovating with his own testing.
